Hello all!
Well it's been a while since we posted something, 15 months in fact, very slack! Well we've had a few hectic months with Mandy's Sydney 50th Party and them 20 of us headed off to Samui for her actual Birthday Party. Stayed at Chaba Cabana again, as usual, and were made to feel like we were home again. All the staff are extraordinary and absolutely adore Mandy.
A few of the crew arrived before us, Darren, Mark, Helen, Jen, Colin then Seb, Courtney, Mandy & I arrived on the Friday prior to her birthday. Over the next 3 days others filtered into Samui and some serious Happy Hour sessions ensued. Don't know where the double double Harvey Wall-bangers originated from but they were abundant.
On the 19th the Hotel put on an amazing spread for us. Unfortunately a thunder storm came through just as pre-dinner drinks were about to start so that put paid to dinner on the beach. So instead S and the F&B team set up in the Bar which we completely took over. The rain didn't last long and the spread of food and decorations were amazing. Check out the prawn cocktails done in a carved out tomato!
The staff went all out on decorations, table setting and the food. Mandy received birthday gifts from the Hotel owners in Bangkok, the General Manager, the F&B Manager, the Assistant F&B Manager, the Bar Manager, the Front Office Manager and one of the Bar staff, it was really overwhelming. They even decorated our room. Here are some other photos of the evening.
Seb, Mark, Darren and Chris organised a fireworks display for Mandy, they had to bring them in via a truck there was that much fireworks, lucky we didn't have any accidents like the last week we were there when a Pom sent rockets into the bar exploding everywhere, luckily no-one was hurt but there were some pretty annoyed staff from the Hotel. 50 huge skyrockets and the last one was enormous.
Check out the video for a small part of it.
Over the following week or so everybody left except for Seb, Courtney and Di so we went out a couple of times to different places. Perm, our cab driver, took Mandy, Seb and I around the island via Nathon and we found a great restaurant right down the south-west tip of Samui where we had a great lunch; chicken curry with out cashews.
The F&B Manager invited us to a dinner as his gift for Mandy and again they threw it on; guest table, flowers, our names in pebbles on the table, champagne, wine, beer and awesome BBQ dinner. The other guests were wondering what was going on with our table and the musical duo played song that we usually request and made mention that the songs were for us, major embarrassment, but a fantastic night (slaughtered!).
Mandy & I then had a week by ourselves before flying home via Bangkok.
Cheers!
